I heard a fascinating interview of Kati Marton by Bob Edwards this weekend and am going to buy her new book Enemies of the People. The Hungarian-born Ms. Marton is a former ABC News reporter and NPR international correspondent. Journalism is in her blood. My company is converting my L1B to a L1A.I wanted to know if i can apply for a green card independently after my L1A has bee approved or does my company needs to process that application.

All Employment Based green card has to be petitioned by the employer. So in your case, you would need to ask you employer to start the process. Only exception are people with "extrodinary ability" (the David Beckham's and Michael J Fox's) and people who fall under "National Interest Waiver" category (EB1 only - people who hold a Ph.D.).

My ex employer (ABC) applied for my green card in 2006. In 2007, I got my 140 approved and I applied for 485. In 2009, I changed jobs using my EAD. ABC still holds my H-1b. Also, I did not file for AC21 yet.
ABC still owes me close to 25k in back pay. I want to report them to Dept of labor and get my money back. What are my options and what are the ramifications of doing so on my green card process?
Questions
If ABC revoked my 140, what should I do? Can I still renew my EAD and AP and continue with my employment in US? My current company is a fortune 20 company and they will support me with any documentation needed?
Since, ABC still holds my h1b, aren't they liable to pay me till date?

My wife couldn't get Xray on a failed TB skin test, because she was pregnant at the time we filed our 485. Our priority date will be current in August.
Should we wait for a RFE on her medicals? Or is it possible to go ahead and do it, and send an update to USCIS?

You can file for your wife and kids while you have a GC.
For brother/sister/parents, you need US citizenship to file it.
If you are a Indian citizen, Bro/sister catagory need a minimum 10 year wait period after filing.

When you travel on AP carry both the copies. On the PoE the IO will keep one and give the second to you after it is stamped. You use the returned/stamped Copy for your future travel
When one applies for AP in Multiple entry category they will be given 2 AP dox. lets say if one has used both on travelling like both has stamp of POE can they reuse the same for future travel with in the one year period of validity ?

I was checking the http://congress.org
I noticed they have a Calls to Action from Groups and Organization on the home page, When i tried to see if there are any Immigration related issues posted There were many like increasing H2A etc but nothing corresponding to Retrogression or GC waiting faced by thousands of immigrants.
There are 100s of bills waiting for Co-sponsors published on this website.
I felt we should do post about the issues faced by Thousands of Legal immigrants who are struck in retrogression or Per country limit.
This may be a good place to put as a number of representatives may view it and it is a good way for us to let the people know of the issues.
Any thoughts........

I am currently working on H1B1 � and my visa is valid till May 2009. The visa on passport (from last employer) is valid till March 2008. We applied for green card through my spouse�s company � our I485 has been applied (His H1B1 is valid till Mar 2008). We both got our Advance Paroles, and he got his EAD � about 5 weeks ago. Though my EAD was also requested at the same time, I have not received mine as yet.
Due to my husband�s job we are moving to another city in November. I plan to resign from my job at the end of November, and go for 6 week vacation to India. I plan to look for a new job (hopefully on with my EAD) when I get back in January 2008. I have following questions:
1. Now when I resign & my H1B1 gets cancelled, what would be my status in USA.
2. Do I need to get back to H4 status to come back to US (or just AP would be enough for POE)
3. Do I need to get back to H4 status to stay in US
